Background of CCDRC

The Center was an open research agency that founded in february 2000.Its members mainly come from the Guizhou Normal University, Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences, Environmental Protection Bureau of Guizhou Province, Poverty Alleviation Office of Guizhou Province as well as foreign community development experts with different academic background. Center mainly work in environmental protection that base on the sustainable community development, including the provision of community-based natural resources sustainable using, PRA approach of rural development project; many community action projects basing on natural conservation and community development through cooperation with local nature reserves and enterprises; the provision of some training and Consulting about project design, planning, management , human resource and evaluation; seek funding to promote community-based development action through contact activily with foreign community development agencies and wide cooperation.
The center was greatly supported by a lot of domestic or foreign organizations or foundations since its foundation, such as, Canadian Civil Society Project, Ford Foundation, Oxfam Hong Kong, International Crane Foundation (ICF), World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) and Environmental Protection Bureau of Guizhou Province , Poverty Alleviation Office of guizhou Province, Department of Education of Guizhou Province, China International Environmental Co-operation Committee, University of California at Berkeley, University of Sydney, St. Andrew's University, Japan, British Embassy etc. With the their help , center has developed approaching forty projects related to the field of natural conservation, community development, social gender , comprehensive manage for river basins, provided nearly 20 trainings about participatory reserves management , participatory community planning , NGO Strategic Planning, Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Cycle Management, Project Design, PRA Theory and social gender etc , The members of center had been hired as consultant by the British Overseas Development Agency, the World Wildlife Foundation, Winrock International Agricultural Development Center, Sino Gold Limited company and also hired as evaluation experts by many project such as Poverty Alleviation Office of state department’s "Using Whole Village s Resources to Develop" project, Oxfam Hong Kong’s "China's decennial evaluation of projects" project, KFW’s Guiyang” two lakes and one reservoir “Integrated pollution prevention and control project , WWF’s Minshan / Qinling Project , Heifer International China Program’s “5-yearS strategic assessment” project; Up to now, more than 80 research theses and 15 books(5 Monographs and 10 co-editeds ) have been published on various kinds of journals and presses .
